We Are Back for Summer 2021!

Summer 2021 Season Begins!

Hopefully this email finds everyone healthy and ready to enjoy the summer.

With the Elk Creek Café opening “Creekside” once again this summer, it looks like we are going to be able to get P.V. Pedals back on the road starting Thursday, May 27th!

The main difference will be the rides will be on Thursday’s this year. We are going to try and operate is the same fashion as before. We’ll meet rain or shine, the rides will leave the Millheim Fire Company parking lot at 6:00. Your $3.00 donation will get you a free beer token for after the ride. The route will be marked in spray chalk ( weather providing) and there will be a map at check in location to reference. Before your first ride of the season please remember to sign the injury waiver. As always feel free to ride an alternate route of your choosing, just get back safe!

If you have any bike issues on the route, call Mark Rupert @ 814-360-0730 and he’ll help you out.

The Elk Creek Café will be opening “Creekside” on May 27th located in the Millheim Fire Co. parking lot. Creekside will be open Thursday’s thru Sunday, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM. The Elk Creek Café will also be open on Thursday’s if you prefer dining inside after your ride. Keep in mind they will be following COVID 19 guidelines with limited capacity. Dinner reservations are strongly recommended. Go to https://elkcreekcafe.com/ for more restaurant information.

We are not mandating any social distancing requirements for the weekly rides. Everyone just do as you’ve done in the past, treat everyone and all situations with respect.

I hope everyone is looking forward to riding Penns Valley and helping support our local groups along with the Elk Creek Café + Aleworks!

If you haven’t had a chance, take a look around our new website, compliments of Erica Thumma! https://freewheelcreative.com/

As we get closer to May 27th I will let you know more details and the parking arrangement since we will be sharing space with the public this year!

Looking forward to seeing everyone…..it’s been way too long!

UPDATE TO ROUTE!

Before I show you the route this week I want to take a minute to share something with the club. I get scared at the start of every weekly PV Pedals + Pints club ride. Yes, scared because I fear someone is going to get hurt…or worse.

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

This week we are riding one of our favorite routes, but for a different reason. Thursday we are “Pedaling for a Purpose” – with the purpose being the Dan Stearns Foundation. Please read the article to learn about how much more there was to Dan than just one of our weekly riders.

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

We’re riding to Madisonburg this week in Brush Valley. The route is rightfully named, the Brush Valley Reverse. This route takes us through the Millheim Narrows. I’ll once again try and arrange with Ed from the Millheim Fire Company to follow us through the Narrows for a enjoyable start to the ride. We are on our own for the return ride. Feel free to alter the route if riding in the Narrows makes you uncomfortable.
