9/2/21 – Brush Valley 22

End of Season Party

At the end of each season, we celebrate with a weekend bike ride followed by a meal together at Elk Creekside. We recognize our sponsors and usually have a few giveaways to raffle off. Anyone that rode with us at any point during the season or in the past (we’d love to see some of you who couldn’t make it this year!) and your +1 is welcome to join us.

Saturday, September 11th, 2021
10:30am ride followed by a celebration.

Please RSVP on Facebook with a YES or INTERESTED by September 3rd so that we can plan appropriately.

No facebook account? Email YES or MAYBE (no “No’s” emailed please!) to: roy@pennsvalleypedalsandpints.com

P.V. Pedals Ride, Thursday 9/2/2021

Hi Everyone!

Yes, it’s raining, but it’s not going to rain tomorrow! So, as long as the Millheim Narrows aren’t flooded, we’ll be headed to Brush Valley.

This loop has a 22.2 mile option and a 16.8 mile option. I will mark the 22.2 mile route with arrows.  I will have a large, different colored arrow at 14.3 miles, at the intersection of Old Pike Road and the Smulton Road.  This is where you go left for the shorter route or right for the 22.2 mile route.

I will ask the Fire Company to follow us through the Narrows again. Still, be careful as cars passed the Rescue Truck a few weeks ago.

Safety Tips

Please stay in your lane, single file on Route 45 along the berm, communicate with other riders, allow room for faster riders to pass safely, and share the road with vehicles.

Thanks!

We’ll begin by going through the narrows toward Rebersburg. Turn right onto Smulton Rd. left onto Back Rd. and left onto 192 (Brush Valley Rd). In Rebersburg, turn right onto Broad Street and left onto Rockville Rd – follow back to Rt 192. Turn left onto 192, right onto Town Road, and right onto Smulton Rd. Turn Right onto Old Pike (or take the Shortcut), left back onto 192. Take a Right onto Shafferstown Rd, follow around and take a left onto Madisonburg Pike. Left back onto 192 and right onto Millheim Narrows to head back to Elk Creek.

Shortcut:

  • I will have a large, different colored arrow at 14.3 miles, at the intersection of Old Pike Road and the Smulton Road.  This is where you go left.

This route has a lot of turns. Take a look at the attached map to familiarize yourself with it.

As you know, we roll how Creekside rolls. If they cancel, we cancel. Look for an email by 4:00 on Thursday with an update.

-Roy Rupert

P.S.
Last ride this season is September 11th, which is also our end of season picnic.

UPDATE TO ROUTE!

Before I show you the route this week I want to take a minute to share something with the club. I get scared at the start of every weekly PV Pedals + Pints club ride. Yes, scared because I fear someone is going to get hurt…or worse.

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

This week we are riding one of our favorite routes, but for a different reason. Thursday we are “Pedaling for a Purpose” – with the purpose being the Dan Stearns Foundation. Please read the article to learn about how much more there was to Dan than just one of our weekly riders.

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

We’re riding to Madisonburg this week in Brush Valley. The route is rightfully named, the Brush Valley Reverse. This route takes us through the Millheim Narrows. I’ll once again try and arrange with Ed from the Millheim Fire Company to follow us through the Narrows for a enjoyable start to the ride. We are on our own for the return ride. Feel free to alter the route if riding in the Narrows makes you uncomfortable.
