7/7/22 – Middle Road Ride

Middle Road Ride

Hi Everyone,

We’re riding towards Woodward this week. This route has several very winding rural roads, please stay in your lane on the blind turns. Middle Road is kind of rough with potholes, if you let yourself go on the long downhill, be careful at the bottom!! This 20 mile ride takes us on RT 45 for about a quarter mile and then crosses RT 45 twice in Woodward, be careful!

The weather looks okay for Thursday with a chance of a passing shower. Check out the attached route in case my arrows disappear with any rain we get.

Creekside will be open for beer and pre-orders from a limited menu. Arrive early to get your order in. Keep in mind that if Creekside cancels due to weather, we cancel. Van Wagner is scheduled to play inside on Thursday night so seating will likely be limited indoors, but you are welcome to head up to order from the full menu.

Millheim Detour
The bridge is out directly beyond the light where we usually go straight. Go around by turning LEFT at the light onto 45, RIGHT onto Maple and Race St, and LEFT onto Elk. Follow the arrows from there to continue onto the route.

2022 Millheim Detour Map
We'll take Penns Street out of Millheim. Turn left on Tattletown Rd. Right onto Rt 45 and travel a short distance before turning right onto Rachel's Way. Turn left onto Broad St (watch the potholes!), then left onto Pine Creek Rd. Take a left onto Quarry Rd. Follow to Rt 45 where you'll make a quick right/left crossing onto Applebutter Rd. Turn right onto Middle Rd (again, watch for potholes! …especially at the bottom of the hill). Bare right onto Cemetery Rd. Cross back over Rt 45 with a quick left/right turn onto Pine Creek Rd. Follow all the way back to Coburn Rd. Turn right and head back to Millheim.

See you Thursday!
-Roy

UPDATE TO ROUTE!

Before I show you the route this week I want to take a minute to share something with the club. I get scared at the start of every weekly PV Pedals + Pints club ride. Yes, scared because I fear someone is going to get hurt…or worse.

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

This week we are riding one of our favorite routes, but for a different reason. Thursday we are “Pedaling for a Purpose” – with the purpose being the Dan Stearns Foundation. Please read the article to learn about how much more there was to Dan than just one of our weekly riders.

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

We’re riding to Madisonburg this week in Brush Valley. The route is rightfully named, the Brush Valley Reverse. This route takes us through the Millheim Narrows. I’ll once again try and arrange with Ed from the Millheim Fire Company to follow us through the Narrows for a enjoyable start to the ride. We are on our own for the return ride. Feel free to alter the route if riding in the Narrows makes you uncomfortable.
