5/19/22 – Apple Butter Loop

P.V. Pedals Ride, Thursday 5/19/2022

Hi Everyone!

That’s right, we ride this week! It’s time to head to Millheim every Thursday night. Penns Valley Pedals and Pints Season 6 starts this Thursday. Pedals up at 6:00.

There will be a few changes this season, but the best part remains the same, we get to ride the roads of beautiful Penns Valley!  Yes, we are starting with everyone’s favorite route, The Apple Butter Loop.

There is a chance of afternoon showers, check out the route link below in case our route arrows get washed off.

We’ll begin by going straight through the light in Millheim toward Coburn. Turn left on Pine Creek Rd and follow to Woodward. Turn left on Route 45 with an immediate right onto Cemetery Rd. Follow around and turn right on Jackson Hill Rd. Continue straight onto Cemetery Rd. Turn left on Apple Butter. Take a right onto Route 45 with an immediate left onto Quarry Rd. Turn right onto Pine Creek and then right onto Coburn Rd to head back to Elk Creekside.

Take a look at the map above to familiarize yourself with it.

A Few Notes

  • PARKING: We park in the the field behind the Millheim Fire Company.
  • WAIVER: Please arrive early if you can! Everyone needs to sign the liability waiver tonight.
  • NO CREEKSIDE: We’ll meet indoors at Elk Creek after the ride until Creekside opens in early June. SEE INFO BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS…

The ride starts at 6:00. Remember you are free to ride your own route, just get back safe!

As peaceful and beautiful as Penns Valley is, during the ride please share the road, communicate with each other and above all, stay in your lane on turns and at the crest of the hills!

Elk Creek Scheduling Conflict

As we mentioned before, Elk Creekside (the outdoor tent) is not ready to welcome us just yet. And The Poe Valley Troubadours are scheduled to play inside the Elk Creek Cafe this Thursday @ 7pm so seating may be limited. If you’re planning on eating and find the Cafe too crowded this week, you can grab a beer, wine or a cocktail at Pisano’s Winery (behind the bank) and takeout can be ordered from a local dining establishment to enjoy there.

We are doing everything we can to get Creekside up and running in the next few weeks, to allow us to stay outside after our rides.

UPDATE TO ROUTE!

Before I show you the route this week I want to take a minute to share something with the club. I get scared at the start of every weekly PV Pedals + Pints club ride. Yes, scared because I fear someone is going to get hurt…or worse.

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

7/28/22 – Dan Stearns Tribute Ride

This week we are riding one of our favorite routes, but for a different reason. Thursday we are “Pedaling for a Purpose” – with the purpose being the Dan Stearns Foundation. Please read the article to learn about how much more there was to Dan than just one of our weekly riders.

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

7/21/22 – Brush Valley Backwards

We’re riding to Madisonburg this week in Brush Valley. The route is rightfully named, the Brush Valley Reverse. This route takes us through the Millheim Narrows. I’ll once again try and arrange with Ed from the Millheim Fire Company to follow us through the Narrows for a enjoyable start to the ride. We are on our own for the return ride. Feel free to alter the route if riding in the Narrows makes you uncomfortable.
